Yes! Beach Day is Back!!

We’re going back to our roots to celebrate the magic of coming together on the water! Our 7th Annual Beach Day will be an informal gathering of our awesome women-identifying Lake Surfistas community at Sandbanks Provincial Park.

We are going to hang out on the beach, surf or SUP together depending on the conditions, and celebrate being together in person, with a few surprises in between. Come for the day or stay overnight.

**Please note, this is not a formally sanctioned event, or run by Sandbanks Provincial Park. This is a gathering of folks to spend time at the beach.

Participation

Beach Day is intended to create a safe space for our Lake Surfistas community to come together. While open to all genders we ask that everyone respect the intent of this gathering. While we welcome all levels of paddlers and surfers (and non-paddling beach-goers), the use of the park and lake are at your own risk, so please participate in activities based on your capability. Everyone at the meet up is responsible for young people or pets in their care. Please note there are no lifeguards at the beach.

Planning

To come to the meet up you will need to either purchase a Day Use Pass or Overnight Camping Pass for Sandbanks Provincial Park. If you want to camp, please book directly with Sandbanks Provincial Park via their booking systems as soon as possible as space is limited. We will be in the Day Use Area closest to Outlet River by Parking 13 - Amphitheater (43.890488, -77.218672).

FAQ

Do I need to be experienced at surfing / SUP?

All levels are welcome to the event. We just ask that you can be safe in the water with basic swimming skills. If you’re new to the sport, this is a great opportunity to learn from others. Please note that there are NO LIFEGUARDS on the beach, and all water activities are at your own risk.

How warm will the water be? What about the conditions?

Lake temperature can vary depending on the conditions leading up to the event. Usually in September a shorty wetsuit is more than enough. Leading up to the date we’ll provide an update on gear recommendations. We will also be watching the forecast and will post an update on predicted conditions (flat, surf, windy, etc.) Let’s hope for a sunny day with some glassy waves!

Are kids or men invited?

Absolutely! Bring your little ones. We just ask that you supervise them and/or bring support so you can enjoy your day too.

All genders welcome!
